Why is Comporium upgrading the voice mail system?
The upgraded system provides advanced all digital, IP-based technology, allowing Comporium to provide additional feature functionality and integration (i.e., e-mail). Currently, York, Lake Wylie and business Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) customers are already using the newer system for voice mail. This is a proven voice mail system and technical support has been established.

All current York, Lake Wylie and VoIP customers are already using the new system for voice mail service. You should not experience any voice mail service interruption during the upgrade.
How will I access messages from the existing system after the upgrade?
The existing voice mail system will be accessible until December 31, 2009 (approximately 60 days). Access numbers to retrieve saved messages will be assigned closer to the time of the upgrade.
Can I copy my saved messages and greeting from the existing system to the new system?
It is not technically possible to transfer existing messages or greetings to the new system. Messages and greetings can be recorded from the existing system but cannot be transferred into the new voice mail system.

Voice mail and Web Portal Feature FAQs - Back - Top
What is the difference between a Mailbox ID and a User ID?
Mailbox IDs and User IDs both refer to your 10-digit phone number. The term “Mailbox ID” is used to access voice mail messages in the Voice Portal and “User ID” is used during Web Portal login.
What is the difference between a passcode and a password?
- Passcodes are used to log in to the Voice Portal access to check messages from your phone. They can be up to eight numeric characters.
- Passwords are used to log in to the Web Portal to configure voice mail settings. Passwords can be up to 32 alphanumeric (both alphabetical and numerical) characters. Password entry is case-sensitive, meaning they must be entered with the same upper or lower case letters each time.
How long will messages be stored in my voice mailbox?
Messages will be stored for 30 days. You will be prompted to either save or delete a message that has been in your voice mailbox for 30 days. The system will not automatically delete any messages.
How many messages can be stored in my voice mailbox before it is full?
There is no maximum number of messages, but the maximum storage capacity is 30 minutes. The caller will hear a message that your voice mailbox is full and is not accepting new messages.
If I receive voice mails in my e-mail account, will I still get them in my voice mailbox?
Yes. Deleting the message in your e-mail account does not also delete them in your voice mailbox. You will need to delete them from the Voice Portal so your voice mailbox does not fill up.
What are "Aliases" and how do I assign them?
Aliases are numbers you may regularly use to access voice mail. Once entered, the system recognizes these numbers and allows you to bypass entering mailbox ID and passcode (if desired) when checking messages.
Assigning Aliases
- Login to the Web Portal
- Click Messaging
- Click Aliases
- Click Add and enter any 10-digit number you may use to access voice mail
- Click OK
- Once all numbers have been entered, click Apply to save
This can be done when calling from home or from aliases. Due to security reasons, both mailbox ID and passcode are required when calling from an unknown or external number.
To bypass entering mailbox ID and passcode from home and aliases:
- Login to Web Portal
- Click Messaging
- Click Voice Portal
- Check box Auto-login to Voice Portal when calling from my phone
- Click Apply to save
